The Yellow or Golden Oyster, scientifically known as Pleurotus citrinopileatus and commonly referred to as the golden oyster mushroom or tamogitake in Japanese, is a variety of edible gilled fungus.

Originating from eastern Russia, northern China, and Japan, this mushroom shares a close relationship with P. cornucopiae found in Europe, leading some experts to classify them as subspecies. In the remote regions of far eastern Russia, where they are known as iI'mak, P. citrinopileatus is highly prized as one of the most sought-after wild edible mushrooms.

Strain Details:

• Preferred Substrate: Pasteurized straw, supplemented sawdust, or agricultural byproducts.
• Temperature: Colonization: 75-80°F (24-27°C), Fruiting: 55-65°F (13-18°C).
• Humidity: Colonization: 85-95%, Fruiting: 85-90%.
• Colonization Time: 2-3 weeks.
• Fruiting Period: Typically begins 1-2 weeks after full colonization, with harvests occurring over a 4-6 week period.
