Myco Labs | Golden Yellow Morel Liquid Culture Syringe (10cc)
Myco LabsMorel mushrooms are highly coveted by mushroom enthusiasts worldwide, prized for their distinctive and bold flavor that remains exquisite and satisfying even after dehydration, preserving their taste for many years. Identifying Morels is relatively easy due to their unique characteristics, yet locating them in the wild can prove challenging. Typically, Morels fruit in spring, but they may also appear in autumn for several years following initial planting.
Indoor cultivation of Morel mushrooms presents difficulties, although limited success has been achieved by individuals like Paul Stamets with black Morels. Black Morels are considered the more manageable variety for indoor growth. Outdoor habitats offer a simpler and usually more successful environment for cultivation. Morel mushrooms thrive in regions with seasonal changes, particularly cold, wet, or snowy winters conducive to spring fruiting. Our Black Morel strain is renowned for its ease of cultivation and ability to colonize various grains effortlessly.
Numerous cultivation methods for Morels can be found on platforms like YouTube, but outdoor cultivation is generally the simplest approach. Outdoor cultivation requires residing in an area where winter temperatures drop below freezing for at least 24 hours. Ideal planting times are March/April or October/November.
To cultivate Morels outdoors, inoculate any type of grain spawn, such as rye berries, with the liquid culture. Choose a shaded spot, preferably beneath hardwood trees like Oak, Elm, Ash, or Elder. Prepare a small area by mixing the grain spawn with hardwood chips, sawdust, or pellets, along with coir and water. Some growers incorporate wood ashes. Cover the mixture with straw or a similar material to retain moisture. Timing is crucial, with planting best done when the ground is cold, and temperatures are expected to drop below 32 degrees for at least 12-24 hours. Maintain moisture during dry spells, and results typically manifest in the subsequent season. Planting in spring yields fall mushrooms, while fall planting results in spring mushrooms.
This recently developed Golden Yellow Morels were cloned from a local variety in May of 2023.
